Robin,

If you want to use the original software that came with the Lego Mindstorms
NXT kit:

Install the NXT-G package from the Lego CD-ROM.

Press and hold the reset switch (located on the rear, upper left of the
brick, in the hole) for 5sec.

The brick should be emitting a pulsing sound.

Connect the brick to your computer's USB port.

Launch the NXT-G software and select firmware update from the menu.

That should do it.

Best,

Andrew

Hi Aaron -

My son is 12. He is interested in learning programming - but at
this point I'd be happy just to get the NXT working! :)

I was under the impression that I had to install the library filters,
and the Java software just for him to get started which is how I ended up
where I am. Oh well. Live and learn! At this point I'd just like to get
the NXT back to a working state. I did try to flash the firm where, but
now there is no menu, and the NXT will beep. Not sure what steps I need
to take to get the NXT so that it will work with the software that comes
with it.

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

         thanks,

           Robin

Robin -

How old is your son? Is he interested in programming? How did you hear
about lejos?

Have you been able to get the software that came with the kit to work?
There are some great sample applications that come with the kit.

We're all glad to help, just drop a line on the list.

Cheers,
