On second thought, this look like an easily-fixed bug: Leo should
*not* honor section references when reading or writing @auto trees.
Thus, there should be no need for escapes or "overridden" delimiters
for section references.

I haven't verified that the bug exists, but if it does I'll mark it as
high priority and fix it along with the other high-priority bugs.
