So one approach would be to write a bunch of familiar helper GUI on top
of Leo to change Leo settings for you.  I think that's what you're
proposing?

I agree the settings are far to complex for non-programmers to dive in
to.  With enough programming background you can think "oh, ok, so it
must work this way..." and be close enough to right to get by.  But for
non-coding users, ouch.

But at the same time Leo is all about editing data represented in
trees, it should be able to make that sufficiently easy that non-coder
users can alter what they need to alter.

No, it's not as simple as font-size changing in some other software.
But I think it's easy enough, and it eases the user into the Leo way of
doing things so that when they want to do more arbitrary things the
helper GUI wouldn't cover, they have a feel for it.

Do you think something like that would be sufficiently friendly for new
users of all types?
