Kent, perhaphs you could be getting your nodes text through this command:

g.getScript(c,p)

That way you get the true script without any @somethings
And also includes the sub-nodes alread substituted when @others is found

Perhaphs there could be a more accessible way of getting a node's true text 
and auto clean, such as c.p.truebody or something like that.
