This one is Mac only, and I don't have a Mac.

I don't want to get into emacs, even though it might be able to do
everything in the world. I could probably be induced to change my mind if
nothing else turns out to be good enough. (I first used emacs back around
1984, IIRC. But I never liked it all that much).

I've been on the verge of getting this book for a couple of weeks. I think
I will go ahead after what you say.

I have it too, but my first bit of working with it didn't make me want to
spend much more time.

I found this on line, but I'm not willing to do a subscription service for
something like this.

Read it ... this is what got me interested in pursuing the zettelkasten
idea, after you raised the question.

Yes, he's not maintaining with it any more. I didn't like that Sublime
Text isn't free - it is $80. That's kind of funny because I pay $35 for
EditPlus, which I really like. I like it enough that once I bought an extra
license that I didn't really need, just to give the developer a bit more
support. I did try Sublime some years ago, and I liked EditPlus better so
I don't really have a feel for how things work in Sublime. I suppose I
could use the trial period to try out the Zettel plugin; I think it's
available somewhere.

There's also zettelr, which I installed but again, I'm not that taken with
it.
