  Ok. There already are LDraw extensions out there (extensions 
and META).

  Who really does use them?
  And if they are really needed, wouldn’t allowing one-piece 
groups be a simple replacement to name a lone piece?
(That would save memory space too.)

  Ok. LDR scripts are easy to make. Just use clear begin and end 
markers for grouping ;o)
