No, the book doesn't suggest lying about mercury allergies. I thought it would 
be an effective way of avoiding mercury from medical sources.

There seems to be a very long argument from both sides. There have been tests 
on sheep, dogs, and chimps, showing that mercury in their body increases from 
dental fillings. The World Health Organization, Federal Drug Administration, 
and their counterparts in Germany, Austria, and Sweden, have found that 
mercury does leech out of dental fillings. Mercury fillings are now banned in 
those three countries.

It's also a danger to the dentists. A pregnant dental student in California 
gave birth to a child with mercury poisoning, caused by her 4 year exposure 
to mercury vapors in the dental school.

Just like lead, there's no safe threshhold for mercury exposure. And although 
we get lead and mercury from other sources it's best to avoid it whenever 
possible.
