There are a few causes of this: 1) you haven't compiled the right fs support into the kernel. 2) you haven't compiled the right drivers for the device. For a USB device maybe you need an initrd? Not sure. 3) the device might have a different name in this version of the kernel than the one you did the build with. As for the other reply about swap partitions, is it possible to use a file or a partition for hibernate? You'll kill a flash device if you use it for swap. Kevin
