>From reading the archives and some other random posts
it seems that using kernel 2.6.12+ with gcc 3.4.3
causes pch failures.

I have been trying to get through my first LFS on each
of two identical P-II 400Mhz machines. I'm using the
LiveCD 6.1.1 and bare hard-drives, so I have no other
"host" system.

The gcc make check gives lots of pch errors nearly
identical to:

I guess the question comes down to two things:
1. Should I run some sort of patch as suggested here:
http://archives.linuxfromscratch.org/mail-archives/lfs-dev/2005-November/053914.html
or should I get a compatible gcc or a compatible
kernel?

2. Shouldn't the LiveCD have compatible kernel and
build tools? The kernel is 2.6.12.5 and gcc is 3.4.3.
