You mention elsewhere you're phd'ing in physics - you may be surprised to learn that most people have immense difficulty digging up knowledge for themselves. If I may hazard a guess, most queries here are from school-people, just-school-leavers and lazy undergrads. In other words, those still used to being spoon fed and not yet ready to abandon that trusted and dependable source of mental nourishment. What they hope to learn in this way I still haven't figured. I reckon that even if there were bright fluorescent flashing neon signs all over the book pointing to the archives they'd still come drooling all over these lists - go figure.
