If I interpret that number correctly, type 0x6 is FAT16 whereas an ext3 filesystem should have type 0x83. You can change this using the 't' command in util-linux's fdisk.
I was hoping you'd chime in, Brandon. 0x6 is indeed a FAT partition type. I read that when I was trying to google this issue. I thought it was implying the first or third partition was unreadable.
