Hello. :)
I'm Italian (sorry for my poor English).
I'm trying to build a LFS using the version 6.2 of the book.
I'm stuck at chapter 5.26, getting an error while making the perl
utilities.
I've tried to ask at the IRC channel, but no one was able to help me.
One of the ops suggested me to try the mailing list.
So, here I am. :P
I'm using an old knoppix as host, with the kernel upgraded
from v2.4.19 to v2.6.16.27.
(Also tar, grep and coreutils are upgraded to satisfy
the requirement of the book. Other packages was ok.)
I've copied and pasted the command lines to be sure to avoid typos.
The patch required for perl was applied correctly, I think,
since I got no error messages in that step.
I just got the line "patching file hints/linux.sh" as output,
which i think is ok.
here is the error msg I get, with also some of the previous
output lines:
`sh cflags "optimize='-O2'" opmini.o` -DPERL_EXTERNAL_GLOB opmini.c
CCCMD = cc -DPERL_CORE -c -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe
-Wdeclaration-after-statement -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE
-D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -O2 -Wall
cc -o miniperl \
miniperlmain.o opmini.o libperl.a -lnsl -ldl -lm -lcrypt -lutil -lc
./miniperl -w -Ilib -MExporter -e '<?>' || make minitest
./miniperl -Ilib configpm --heavy=lib/Config_heavy.pl lib/Config.pm
./miniperl -Ilib lib/lib_pm.PL
Extracting lib.pm (with variable substitutions)
make: *** [preplibrary] Error 1
I made 3 attempts deleting the source directory
and restarting from the tar archive, but with no changes.
I've searched on the website for something related to this
but I didn't find something useful.
Someone know what this can be related to?
Does this perl building depends on some of the previous
build/installed packages so that I must check them better?
Other suggestions?
must I exorcize the pc? :P
thanks for you help in advance.
I'm here waiting for replies...
yayo
p.s.
I'm not totally new to linux, but I'm nor an hacker,
so if you have an idea to help me, be clear plz. :P
and forgive my ignorance.
Also keep in mind that even if my English is getting better,
the slang can put me in troubles in understanding what ya write. :P
thankz again. :)
