Folks, I'm still unclear about the very simple following thing. I've built successfully a LFS system using VmWare running a 32-bit version of Fedora 8. That's all sweet and nice. The host is Fedora Core 6 x86_64. I'm about to embark on building a x86_64 version using CLFS but, I'm wondering why should I cross-compile (and build cross-compile tools) when the host runs the target system ? Shouldn't the packages be built natively ?
