I might make a suggestion if you have not installed gentoo you might try
that first. This will give you an idea of what you are trying to do since
gentoo compiles most everything instead of installing prepackaged binaries.
Once you understand how to install gentoo then move on to lfs. It should
take a few hours depending on you network connection, I run gentoo on all my
laptops and it was a great base for when I built lfs on an external usb hard
drive and I was also able to duel boot but what I learned from installing
gentoo was what helped me the most.
