http://wireless.kernel.org/ has almost all of the resources you need.

Reading what `dmesg' has to report is usually enlightening.

I can't do this now since I have to go to bed, but in principle, the
art of figuring out which driver/firmware you need goes somewhat like
this:

1. figure out what is the name of the device (you posted the name some
time ago, so you know that)
2. use the Internet to figure out what is the underlying chip
3. use that information to "shop" in menuconfig for the correct driver
4. use that information again, this time on wireless.kernel.org to
figure out what, if any, firmware you need

If all else failes, there is always the nuclear option. I hope I won't
disharten you when I say that in several instances I had to read the
source code for the kernel drivers to figure out what exactly I need,
and where exactly do I need to put it. If it will dull the sting, Linux
source code is very well written, so you can zero-in on what you need
in no time.
