I'm beginning to wish I had never taken this on because nothing I've tried has 
made the least difference.  Clearly I need the firmware but where I would get 
it and what I did with it if I found it is anybody's guess.
I'm trying a rebuild of the kernel again, my 7th or 8th, and if that doesn't 
help I'm going to go back to arch.  This is too frustrating.
