I hope it's OK that I post this message on this list. I didn't find any
similar "can I do this" type questions in the alfs archives.
In preparing for LFS-7.6, I realized that I had concentrated on
scripting Ch. 6 and completely ignored Ch. 5. Since I employ Package
Users, all my scripts are geared toward that and it would be a *big*
project to modify my main build script for Ch. 5. I've been thinking of
jHALFS for that.
I think I learned, when I looked at the alfs page, that the latest,
current LFS version can be obtained through svn. Is this correct?
To use an svn version of jHALFS then becomes a matter of installing
subversion, and its dependencies, and libxlst, and its dependencies
including docbook. Is this correct?
I'm also assuming that I can build only Ch. 5 with jHALFS. It has been
many years since I used it and I can't remember whether or not it stops
at the end of CH. 5. If it doesn't, I think that I can go through the
script or the Makefile, whichever it uses, and stop the build when I
want to.
Thanks,
Dan
