I think you were being asked which version of gcc you are building.
At the end of your post you said you are using the 7.8 book, so that
will be 5.2.0.

And quoting the section numbers is not particularly helpful.
Section 5.3 is the general compilation instructions, nothing about a
particular step in the build.

So you say - you could have saved some of this cycle of tangential
replies by using 'printenv' in your build environment and telling
people what it reported.

No you didn't.  To avoid a spat of Pythonesque "Did." "Didn't."
repeated ad nauseum, please go back and re-read what he asked.  You
have told us the error message, and also your original command, and
the corrected version.  But you have not shown us the command where
make reported the error.  Presumably it was invoking a compiler, but
we do not know how (there is more than one way), nor the file it was
trying to create.

I too suspect a problem before libstdc++.  Your build host appears to
be similar to what several people have used successfully, but your
error is obscure and certainly looks like the LFS g++ compiler is
not present.
