I BOOTED!!!!!!!!!!
😃
I dont know If it was the fact that I used make localyesconfig,or that I used an initramfs created by the lfs provided script but I finally booted.
One question:
It seems that using a modular kernel makes it hard to boot LFS(even if i lsmod into /etc/sysconfig/modules)
How to use a modular kernel instead the monolithic one created by localyesconfig?
I installed LVM2 and the system CAN mount the swap partition which rests on a lv.
Next step is to move the root parition to an lv and see if I will be again lucky.
I installed PAM and it works!!!
the Network is always down @boot so I have to use ip link and ifconfig to make it operational,but it works!!!
It took me 2 weeks but i finally booted.

Now I am going to make a tarball of the installation and play around with installing more software etc.
Ah by the way,i had to copy the /usr/lib/grub/x86_64-efi from my host system and managed to install grub with target=x86_64-efi.
I feel that since all machines are more or less efi nowadays you should include precise and clearly laid chapters on efi boot inside the LFS books.
Otherwise people can get frustrated from continuous effort to boot.
Other than that all is well

Andreas

Hi All,
I had a fantastic time building LFS-8.4.
Everything went smoothly.
I installed the 4.20 kernel and used a .config from my debian system--meaning that the kernel is built with full functionality.
The problem is my system is uefi.
When I try to do grub-install --target=x86_64-efi .................. i get an error about a missing script.
Please clearly point me to how to install lfs grub for efi.
Also I use lvm.
So i created an initramfs with your script mkinitramfs.
I hope everything will work nicely.
Thanks for your consideration,
Dharma

Congratulations! I remember the first time I successfully boot LFS.

The network problem may be fixed by setting up the systemd service for static-network.service under the /etc/systemd/system/ folder. Like this:

After=local-fs.target

[Service]

Type=oneshot

RemainAfterExit=yes

ExecStart=/sbin/ifconfig eth0 192.168.199.48 broadcast  192.168.199.255 netmask 255.255.255.0 up

ExecStart=/sbin/route add default gw 192.168.199.2 eth0

[Install]

WantedBy=multi-user.target

Yours
Neil
