Hi everybody have I got a fun issue to tell you all...

I am in the process of building my LFS-9.0 system and have made it all the
way to the point where you make final system configurations such as locale,
creating files such as /etc/profile, etc.

After setting up the /etc/fstab file, I decided I would install the
dependencies needed to boot GRUB with UEFI (by following the hint on the
site), which I have previously done before with no issues.

I am currently running into an issue where I cannot install `efivars-37`
due to GCC 9.2.0 throwing warnings during the make process that get treated
as errors. However, during my investigation into that issue I discovered a
far more troubling and confusing issue.

For some unknown reason, my LFS chroot environment is under the impression
that JUST the uppercase letter 'M' (not a lowercase 'm') does not exist
whatsoever. Attempts to type it into the terminal via SHIFT + M leads to
nothing being inputted on the screen.

Furthermore, it also erases the 'M' from a line of text when copy+pasted
into the terminal. For example, as I normally copy and paste commands
straight from the book when installing the packages, the following block of
text:

    sed -i '/INSTALL_LIBS/s/libcrypto.a libssl.a//' Makefile &&
    make MANSUFFIX=ssl install

will instead be pasted into the terminal as so:

    sed -i '/INSTALL_LIBS/s/libcrypto.a libssl.a//' akefile &&
    make ANSUFFIX=ssl install

This is NOT an issue with the local system as well because as soon as I
exit the chroot environment, I can type an uppercase 'M' all day 100 times
over.

For the life of me, I have not the slightest idea what the problem here
could be. I have no trouble typing all 26 letters of the alphabet in
lowercase, and I can type all 26 letters in their uppercase forms as well
EXCEPT for 'M'.

I will accept any and all suggestions on this one. Like I said, I am using
the LFS-9.0 version without systemd and, if it helps, I set the locale as
the following:

LC_ALL=en_US.utf8 locale charmap

So my /etc/profile file exports LANG=en_US.UTF-8.

My /etc/inputrc is word-for-word copied from the sample given in the book.

Thanks in advance, and if you actually know how to fix this problem, you
are a wizard.
