Quoting Luca Barbato <[email protected]>:

Those are more interesting to me, I prefer adding colorspaces only if
the need arises.

Understood :)

The main question regarding rgb with more than 10 and less than 16 is
where it is used.

This was added due to a request from the national film-archive for
converting scanned film from DPX with >8 (but <16bit) bit-depth to FFv1.

So DPX with 12 and 14 bits or 13 is also there (and missing) ?

Honestly, I'm not 100% sure about that, because that was coordinated directly between someone from the filmarchive and Georg Lippitsch who implemented the changes. He also modified DPX code as far as I know.
I only saw 12 and 14 bits - no 13 so far...

He would have wanted to implement RGB with 16 bits-pro-component, but as I understood it, this leads to an overflow issue where the conversion between YUV and RGB cannot be done lossless anymore, so he only implemented it up to 14bits.

For high-end material any additional bit >8 is desireable ;)

Thanks,
Pb
