made the screenshots? I have encountered something like this in the past with MPEG-2 or DV sources as I recall. The issue was something in Quicktime decoding/displaying the video differently to FFmpeg or libmpeg2 or so. I don't remember precisely what it was, maybe Baptiste knows of some issue in
Quicktime.


The 2nd snapshot was created by VLC, which AFAIK based on FFMPEG as well.

The YUV are coming from 3rd party decoder, which converts their proprietary
media to YUV format.

By the way, what people use to view YUV data?

Are you sure that this isn't the result of the wrong scaling?
interpreting YCbCr with its 16-235 range as if it where YUV 0-255.

It's a common mistake to make, but it can be tricky to track down where the wrong interpretation is made.
