Currently I don't have any other patches, only those sent to this list. But I am full of ideas :). Restructuring the sources is quite difficult, especially when I don't know automake either. I hoped someone here knows how to use it :) I'll try to learn something, but it can take some time... I wouldn't freeze the sources for now. In the end, proposed structure will change only location of the files, not the content (apart from Makefiles, and they will be rewritten by automake).
