He would get crushed by any Republican running against him. Look, you obviously don't know squat about real world politics and even less about Texas politics.
Republicans south of Houston have always been extremely suspicious of Ron Paul. They view him as a Libertarian infiltrator in the GOP. They like him personally, but think he's a bit of a crank oddball. And most are chomping at the bit for him to retire. I can think of 2 or 3 big-time GOPers that would cherish the opportunity of a Ron Paul run as a Libertarian. Ron would probably end up with less than 5% if that. Do you have any idea how badly organized the Libertarian Party is here in Texas? At least in Houston, the Harris County LP is able to have meetings once a month that attract 5 to 10. In Ron's District there's maybe one single LP County Organization and that's in Brazoria (Ron's and my home County). They get maybe 2 to 3 people each month to meet at the Golden Corral for Buffet. There's maybe 5 to 10 other LPers scattered in Ron's District. I imagine a few in Galveston. Are you seriously suggesting that less than 10 people and a few Houstinite Libertarians would have the strength, organization, and money to go up against the entire Republican establishment in CD 14, along with the entire Republican volunteer network? It would be a slaughter. Utter embarrassment for Ron and the entire libertarian movement.
