Vic,

What would you call "good"? Libertarians are very clearly against
seat-belt and helmet laws - and drug laws, and prostitution laws,
and pornography laws, and gambling laws. Responses to these
issues (consensual crimes - only risking harm to self) constitute
a very large part of Libertarian principles (and responses).

PS: Vic, you have just pissed me off! You should have known
writing something like that could piss many LPers off, and that
some could have tempers. Say one of them/us is so angry, we
become criminally aggressive against an innocent. Guess what? You
are now personally responsible for this aggression through your
own "contributory negligence".

this is not so clear cut. here we have a law that says a
bartender
is not allowed to serve someone who is clearly smashed. the issue
here
is contributory negligence. while someone is personally
responsible for
becoming drunk, someone who continues to provide alcohol does
have a
degree of contributory guilt.

the broader issue is does the state have the right to prevent you
from
harming yourself. overwhelmingly people vote yes on this issue
and the
LP looses the support of the average person on the street.

I have not seen any good libertarian responses to these issues.

Vic
