Thanks for the vote of support Grant. The statement though, does not apply to Iraq as there was not credible threat from Iraq, but rather a false claim of credible threat, wich was used to support the action. In my proffesional opinion, Iraq was more about a family vendeta than nuclear or biological weapons, and it was not about Oil either. Just because one claims some one is a credible threat, does not make them one.
To use Terry's graffic metaphor... Iraq would have been a man in the corner that no one liked, then George came out and said hey that guy in the corner used to carry a knife in his pocket, I bet he is planing on buying a new one and he might stab us with it some day if he does buy a new one, plus I hear he beats his family he must be a real bad guy lets lynch him! I disagree with Terry on Afghanistan though. Afghanistan was providing safe haven for individuals who did pose a credible threat, the knife had already penitrated the skin. A case can be made for that agression, it can be argued against yes, but its not so clear cut that I can believe you realy can not see how it could have been viewed as a credible threat. --- In [email protected], "Terry L Parker" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > A crazed killer enters the room and begins slashing people > with a big knife; then turns to you... > > Must you wait for him to cut into you BEFORE you shoot him? > > Someone you know to be somewhat vicious and short tempered, > loads his pistol, shoots a cat, then takes slow deliberate > aim upon you from just a few feet away.... > > Do you think you have no right to 'pre-emptivly' defend yourself? > > I don't see how Iraq, or even Afghanistan, were 'credible' threats! > > > -Terry Liberty Parker > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Libertarian > > > > --- In [email protected], "Grant@" <grant.yahoo@> > wrote: > > > > Wait a minute, when did the "credibly threatening to initiate" get > > added?
