When I worked for Chevron, I was processing leases to under ground oil reserves that could only be reached by directional drilling - most people don't want wells on their property. Considering some of those leases went back well over 50 years, I'm surprised you've never heard of it. I can't speak for Paul, but I'd fight tooth and nail to keep California out of the hands of Mexico. However, I wouldn't expect other countries to get involved in the matter, especially if the US were slant drilling into Mexican oil fields in the Gulf and they fought back over that. And while we're at it Paul, The entire Southwest of the United States was once part of Mexico, including your home state of California. Being consistent and all, are you also in favor of returning the Southwestern US to Mexico? Also, Florida to Spain?
