My main point was that I don't believe that "we didn't get a printed copy of the platform" was a significant factor. As you state, there's been a steadily increasing percentage of "toss them all" votes for several reasons over time. Then there was the LRC input. They themselves admit that there were some planks tossed that they'd rather have kept, but as a matter of _tactics_, they decided it would be easier to get on board with "toss them all" and deal with the potential fallout. A new factor you add into the equation is basically an assertion that I was wrong -- and I trust you on that -- and that the delegations were NOT mostly "seasoned LP national convention veterans." More to the point, that there were not enough people there who had participated in crafting the platform over time to effectively stand up in their delegations and say "hey -- we've spent 36 years building this thing, let's stop and think VERY hard about which parts might need to be torn down, and which ones should just be remodeled." I think that there's at least one more additional factor, but I'm not sure how to express it. Some people posit a failure of "internal education" over the years, and that's close to it, but not quite what I'm getting at. I think perhaps it's more a matter of attention span and ability to focus on more than one piece of the puzzle: Basically, we let ourselves forget about some rotting joists under the floor (the ideas/principles that made us want to be in the LP in the first place) because it never occurred to us that they might start rotting while we concentrated on other things (basically, marketing those ideas/principles in the form of candidates for office).
