Your Republican opponents may make this ridiculous claim.  You can counter
it like this:


The Dow set the last record in January of 2000.  So the stock market has
finally reached the level it had before Bush took office. Investors would
now break even, except that their money will not buy what it used too.  The
inflation over the past six years means investors in the Dow have lost about
a quarter of their investment! In 2000, gold cost about $420 per ounce.
Today it sells for about $560.  So the Dow has not even kept up with a coin
doing nothing in a drawer.  Thank Bush for that.
