Doug, I had beers with Ben at the RLC Convention. He's nothing like you describe. He's an extremely fun-loving good natured advocate of libertarianism. Quite committed, and surprisingly hardcore. He's a maverick with a Capitol M.
Ben has an independent somewhat hardheaded streak about him.
