Jane, you are 100% correct.

What's worse is the 'warning signs' about Mister Barnes
were very clear and apparent.

The people that I know who met him got the willies
and thought he was a freak.

As well, I warned folks about who he was years and
years before this 'new' problem came up.

The California Chair who originally recruited him and
even, if memory serves, made his nominating speech,
extolling his virtues was exposed to his nasty and
dishonest behavior and knew of my reports on him...
Yet he still put him in positions of responsibility.

And, when the truth (and court record/file) came out
covered things up, and when pressed, a) dragged his
feet and b) blamed me personally for the scandal.

How the heck I was involved, I have no clue.
I didn't molest those innocent little Boy Scouts.
I didn't call the newspapers and ask them to
run articles like they did.  I had no clue until
it all came out like sludge from a forgotten and
ignored septic tank finally exploding.

When finally forced to prosecute, suspend and
request expulsion, the LPCA Officers booted
that too, with a childish Prosecution that somehow
again had me as part of their pleadings.

Pleadings that were so poorly done and immature,
a student in a Junior High School Civics class
presenting such a brief in a mock trial would have
gotten an F for their grade.

It's a shame that folks are So desperate for 'friends'
and Volunteers they will accept anyone, even trash
like Mister Barnes.

Fortunately, after a few months of me contacting
FaceBook, the guy got banned from it and his
threats from him there stopped.

We have to protect our image and name.
Instead of attacking good people who
might just differ with us on a few issues.

A Member's position on immigration, for example,
would be far less important than how they behave
in public, their table manners and deportment
towards others, especially folks outside the LP.

Anyone who worked with Mister Barnes for
these last three years and could not see
what a whack job, nasty and immature
freak he is/was is immediately disqualified
from consideration as a person who ought
to lead or serve as they have zero people
reading skills and accepted him with open
arms into the LP fold.

Ewwwww, I need to take a shower now.
(In lye, as one of our LPCA State Candidates
says whenever they get an email from him.)

If this guy was innocent, wasn't it up to him to prove that to the satisfaction
of the Libertarian' s who validate candidacy? Sure he is innocent until proven
guilty, but when you want to run for public office, you have a little more
responsibility to look "pure as Nero's wife" to your backers. I'm shocked that
he was allowed to serve at all. He makes Libertarians look bad. We are all
Libertarians, but not all Catholics. It is not our duty to educate the public
on the rights of pedophiles. We run for office on Constitutioal principles. If
I am missing something here, I am sure several of you will point it out to
me...Tnx

Yeah he's guilty.

He was a Scoutmaster of some sort and well, the court
file pretty much says it all.

Anyone want a copy?
It's public record and has traveled all over California.

He was charge with six counts and ended up plea
bargaining to three, serving time in prison.

Very very guilty.

Isn't what he did initiation of force against those
innocent little Boy Scouts?

Is this guy guilty? I have seen states convict people as sex offenders on just
accusations. Maybe he became an activist because he got screwed by the court
system. I have seen enough libertarians become activists because they got
screwed in some form or another by the system.

Votes on a Scandal

A decades-old sex crime comes back with a vengeance—and shakes up the
Libertarian Party

By: Alex Distefano

It’s no secret that in the current political climate, more Americans are
experiencing a sense of frustration and even distrust towards both Democrats
and Republicans. Within this two-party dichotomy, many voters are opening their
minds, ears and even pocketbooks to support an alternative third party.

This is where the Libertarian Party comes into the picture.

In California, many Libertarians have been elected to local and state offices.
According to stats from the 2008 early voter registration totals, 384,722
California voters—or 28 percent of the total registered as Libertarians—voted
in the last election.

Since the party’s inception in 1971, the Libertarian movement has seen a slow
but steady increase in support, with a platform focused on individual freedoms
and smaller government. What it probably didn’t need was a scandal to wreak
havoc with the party.

But that’s exactly what it got.
