Makefiles, plural? I expect there's quite a few people (myself included) who have application code which relies on our Make.common. But getting automake to export a backwards compatible (or even a practically identical) Make.common wouldn't be too hard. In this case I'd still love to see us move to automake. But are you also relying on our Makefile.const, or much worse: our Makefile?
