Good evening again Dave!

There were several 'other' factors that I also noted during the
unsettled 'state of the union' address.
One, most of the Shrub's remarks drew positive standing ovation from
one side of the isle, while the other side sat still, and one could
hear sighs of moaning in the background coming from the side still
seated. I believe I wouldn't be too far off the mark to suggest that
Americans (and politicians) remain as polarized as before our own
election, not to mention the recent smoke and mirror's charade that
occurred in Iraq -- now held up as as a triumph in Democracy! and a
validation of the Shrub's acumen in foreign affairs.
Two, if you noticed carefully, the latest 'success' in American
adventurism abroad is clearly marked by the Shrub's accent toward
going forward for the total Democratization of the rest of the 'third
world' planet as well! The mere indication here that Iran, or Syria,
may be next on the Shrub's list for regime change is chilling in light
of the already unfinished business in Afghanistan, and the likelihood
of probably civil war resulting from the outcome of the orchestrated
Iraqi fiasco.
Three, the taunted 'privatization' of a segment of social security
might sound like a step toward a 'Libertarian' solution, but it is
not. It will markedly raise taxes, and create a scenario for
government control over the private sector insurance and investment
institutions that sign on. Notice that the government will 'approve'
certain segments for the funds to be diverted to -- imagine the graft
and corruption that would obviously take place as politicians
determine which corporations or investment segments Americans could be
forced to invest their own money for future retirement! I guess ENRON
or a like clone comes into my mind immediately, and as the case may
be, since such a corporation was 'approved' by the government for
retirement investment, a government bailout might be 'necessary' for
the solvency of the 'system'. At any rate, the Social Security
pyramid scam is going to come tumbling down, all on its own anyway,
with or without any help from the Shrub regime, since its foundation
was built upon quick sand, the idea that politicians should run a life
insurance mill for all Americans whether they like it or not.
The sad thing about # 3 above, is that the collapse of the Social
Security Pyramid System might very well drain what is left of the US
economy, that is, what is left of the US economy after major
corporations have found a more environmental friendly atmosphere in
other nations with more freedom and economic liberty than our own.
Sadly, I wished I had not watched the dog and pony show that was the
2005 State of the Union message from the leader of the current regime
in office. We're moving into very dangerous and precarious times, and
the so-called 'terrorists', or 'freedom fighters', whichever you
choose to call 'em, have nothing to do with any of it. If you really
take a hard look at the Shrub's actions over his first term in office,
you have to take a moment or two to wonder just where America will
find itself after another four years!
In short friends, the State of the Union is NOT good. Our civil
liberties, almost all of 'em we had any sense of agreeing might be
left, have already been swallowed up by the Patriot Act and its
successors under the current fascist regime in the space of the last
four years. Our nation's economy is still floating on worthless paper
generated by the privately owned and controlled central bank, the
Federal Reserve. We have more US troops abroad this year than ever
before since the Vietnam War, and Americans are being weaned to
believe all of this is somehow a giant vindication that fascism under
the guise and garb of 'patriotism' is a giant success story!
I kind of get the feeling that now I know, or at least have a better
appreciation for understanding how the Germans must have felt during
the late 1930s as another regime seemed to justify every conceivable
and miserable condition for surrendering liberty on the altar of
safety and security!
Warmest regards,
Frank
