Oh I understand that. In my case, the tickets were legit, but he went 
overboard, writing 3 tickets for what was basically a single offense, just that 
it got counted as 3. In any event, I was the one to suggest the deal, figuring 
it was about the best I could hope for from the judge anyway.
 
I do think traffic courts are a racket; how much depends on the town.

It might have even gotten a little lower. Back in the mid '90s, the last time I 
was in Canada, the difference was pretty substantial. Prices were ridiculously 
high in Canadian dollars, but worked out about the same as in the US with the 
conversion. Given lower incomes in Canada (even before converting the 
currency), the standard of living had to be notably lower there. What I wonder 
with the strong Canadian dollar and weak US is whether hockey players will now 
drift back north.
