"locate pqxx" show plenty of 2.6.8 files but nothing older. The libpqxx-2.6.8.so is dated october 4, 2006 and I just rebuilt the libpqxx.a which now shows November 27, 2006. There was a pqxx directory off of /usr/include and /usr/local/include . I renamed the older of the two which was the one off of /usr/include then did a rebuilt and retest but I still receive the "SQL Exception".

Then try looking for remainders of older installations and such: "locate pqxx" should tell you what libpqxx-related files are present on your system.
