Dear Nico

Am I correct to select LibreCMC for this router? Can I reasonably expect
this router to be supported in the future within the project, or does it
have some red flags going for it?

Answer: I have flashed librecmc v1.3.2 3 month ago, and until know i had no
problem with it. my wdr4300 is version 1.7 and i downloaded from
http://downloads.librecmc.org/snapshots/v1.3.2/ar71xx/; i downloaded
generic and luci versions, but i flashed the luci version only. I have
another router from TP-LINK( wr2543nd ) and i flashed librecmc 1.3.2 too,
it worked too, but i did not tested the router fully. In my opinion you
should try if you want total freedom, download the firmware builded and
have a try.

And secondly, would I have to build a custom version of LibreCMC to run
on the WDR4300, or could I just use say the image of the WR1043ND?

Answer: No, you can download from:
http://downloads.librecmc.org/snapshots/v1.3.2/ar71xx/ ( this link is for
wdr4300, wr2543nd and others ). You should download v1.3.2 if you want.

And lastly, do recommended models like the WR1043ND have some positive
points going for it with respect to the WDR4300? I have seen one a
couple of weeks ago in the second-hand circuit, but it seems to be quite
rare, thus resulting in a long duration to source 6 more routers.

Answer: I recommend: wdr4300 and wr2543nd because i have both, i flashed
librecmc v1.3.2 on both, and i can confirm router aparently works normal, i
dont tested these routers fully, but it is working. Note that FAILSAFE
works on both.

Regards,

Luiz
