--- Comment #19 from Manu <[email protected]> ---
Hello, I add my thoughts, maybe it can help to find a solution.

I have the same problem to find the correct font for my targeted languages.
I have created a list of alphabets I need. I put it in a cell, and I apply the
font I want to test, and I analyze the result and compare with other
cells/fonts.

But it's borring to not have a "direct" function that do the job: for example
we could have a parameter in the options saying what are our preferred
languages, and then the font list indicate which font is (un)compatible.
After reading the discussion, it seems complicated to obtain this result.

In my opinion, there is still a little thing that could help a lot.
In the attached document CaptureFontPreview, we can see the current font
preview in Calc:
- in a combobox, we have the name of the font, and sometimes a list of
characters (who has made the choice for these letters?)
- in a dialogbox, we have a textbox with "lorem ipsum" (who has made the choice
for this text?).

My proposition:
- the user can parameter his "lorem ipsum". For example, I write "abcáàâä
αβγάέή абве́а́я́ çœæñãõ åøþđð őű iIğ" in this new parameter, this is a list of
letters for latin, grec, cyrillic, and specific european countries.
- then the dialogbox displays the personnalized "lorem ipsum", and I can see
immediately if the font support my targeted languages, before validating the
change. I can even see if the glyph has the right shape for my need.
- and it would be great if this personnalized "lorem ipsum" could be displayed
in the font combolist, as a third column.

Tanks for your help and comments!
