The previous 6.0 stable release of Debian (Squeeze) already supported lzma
decompression with its package manager back-end (dpkg) :

Pre-Depends: libc6 (>= 2.11), coreutils (>= 5.93-1), lzma

/usr/bin/unlzma

Now the 6.0 release of Debian has been superseded by the 7.0 stable release
(Wheezy).
