Bug ID: 163692
Summary: Endnotes content erased on save in docx format
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 24.8.2.1 release
Hardware: All
OS: macOS (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
When working on a docx document, the content of endnotes disappears.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a document created in MS Word containing endotes (the endnote numbering
is not in the default roman [xii, xiii etc.] but in arabic numbers [12,13 etc],
this might or might not trigger the issue)
2. Add other text and endnotes un LO Writer.
3. Save the document
4. Iterate 2 and 3 many times.
Actual Results:
The endnotes can persist accross numerous saves, even for moths of editing, but
enventually, LO Writer erases all of their content on a save. Only the numbers
remain, in text and at the end of the document.
Expected Results:
The endnotes - and moths of work - persist.
Reproducible: Sometimes
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
I am aware this is hard to reproduce but if someone can have a look at the
mechanics of endnotes.xml generation by LO writer, would be great.
Workaround: save a copy of your work in many separate files, a new one each
day, to be sure to be able to retrieve your endnotes content. Sooner or later,
Writer will erase all of their content upon save, leaving only the main text
body.
