--- Comment #6 from Andrew <[email protected]> ---
Initiate spellcheck.

Word you like to use is in red. Enter puts it in the text.

Word you like to use is not in red, or in the suggestions.

To get to the text takes 8 tab tab tab tab tab tab tab tab. Enter puts it in
the text.

But next time, it may not be 8. It varies. Depending on which buttons you have
used lately. I think. It seems random.

If you have just done alt i to ignore once, it is now just 3 tabs to get to the
text.

So there is no way to train the reflexes to do this quickly and automatically.

This is the beauty of the old system. Utterly straightforward. Can be managed
at speed by anyone.

...

Be in Writer, have text with an unknown word.
2. Press F7 to open the Spelling dialog
3. The cursor is at the beginning of the unknown word.
4. Press Ctrl+Delete to remove the unknown word and write what you like.

CHANGE MIND

alt i to ignore once and go to next instance with enter

but now you are still in the text field so that give a new line where you
don't want it.

this issue is simple - the interface is COMPLEX

and that is just the job for mouse use. Perfect. A good copy of the ms system -
maybe it came from elsewhere, i do not know.

but for simplicity and speed the old system was massively preferable.

For someone typing thousands of words at a go, what you want is that
simplicity.

the last one i remember it in was ooo 1.1.1 i think, though it might have
persisted to 1.1.3
