It seems the smart electrical grid wasn't invented by Microsoft.
It would be better than Windows Updates since it would prioritize renewable
electricity.

Just let you imagine this scenario :

1. As currently, the updates are checked for example each week.

2. If an update is available, the updates files can be downloaded as currently.

3. Once the updates files are ready for installation, then the automatic update
requests to a simple service the best time period for installation (or fall
back to a zenith period relying on local time). If installation has not been
completed within 24 hours, it reverts to the usual installation time frame.
