Sounds good to you? I feel it is better to separate the two functions - allow the user to take simpler individual actions: "Optimize width", "Cap width", rather than only a more complex "optimize-under-cap". Also, in my use case, there are many columns for which I don't want the optimal width because I don't care about them much: Columns which are mostly empty but occasionally have some text which I could examine individually. Or columns under the cap, but for which the first centimeter or so is enough.
