--- Comment #2 from Takenori Yasuda <[email protected]> ---
>From a CJK perspective:

Is this option intended to display a grid similar to 原稿用紙 (manuscript paper)
used in Japan?

In the Japanese UI, this option is explicitly labelled "原稿用紙モード" (manuscript
paper mode).
The displayed grid consists of square cells for placing body text characters
and additional blank rows mainly intended for ruby annotations, matching the
format of manuscript paper commonly used in Japan.

Therefore, from the perspective of a Japanese user, the behaviour appears to be
as expected.

However, the English label "square page mode for text grid" does not fully
reflect the actual purpose of this feature and may lead to the assumption that
it simply produces a grid with equal width and height.

In practice, it appears to be not a simple square grid, but rather a feature
designed to reproduce the manuscript paper layout used in Japanese typesetting.
