Would a name such as "CJK manuscript grid" be more appropriate than
"Square-ruled mode for Asian text grid"?

Square-ruled grid and genkō yōshi (manuscript paper) grid represent different
concepts.
Square-ruled grid refers to a uniform grid of square cells, similar to a
Cartesian coordinate system, and is used not only for graphs but also for
writing text.

In contrast, genkō yōshi grid is not a simple square-ruled grid, but a
structured grid composed of square cells for body text and additional blank
rows, typically used for ruby annotations.

For this reason, a name such as "CJK manuscript grid", which more clearly
reflects the cultural background and intended use of this feature, would be
more appropriate.
