Design issue aside (the Tab widths respond to width of the app frame), with
departure of the Collabora team, I would suggest to just dump the entire MUFFIN
NB as *unsupportable*.  

Strip it all out and revert to maintaining the Standard UI (Menus, Toolbars,
Dialogs--with ongoing Sidebar framework to supplement dialogs).

Porting to native UI and CSD remains out of the question.

While the Glade GTK framework was questionable when chosen, and frankly entire
MUFFIN NB framework is a PIA. Residual MUFFIN UI for LibreOffice is OBE. UI
based assemblages were a nice side trip, but they are done.

Dev for Collabora's CODE is moving the interface to Web Assemblies (WASM)
running  from a local browser engine renderings of the UI--seems really no one
is left to do reasonable things with framework for the MUFFIN NBs.
