Additionally your opinion on the "MUFFIN NB" is not representative of all LibreOffice users, having a familiar MSO style interfaces is a huge reason why people use LibreOffice. If the code was "stripped out" then you would alienate a substantial number of users who prefer this metaphor. What needs to be considered is that almost all of the major office suites offer a "ribbon like" UI now.
