We have paragraph styles (PS) and table styles (TS), as well as direct
formatting (DF). I use TDF for DF on the table.

If you understand the table formatting as part of the text you may expect to
copy and paste PS+TDF. But would you also expect the colored text from a red
shape pasted into a blue shape to change the object background? And if the
table is formatted properly you surely want to use the TS.

As an alternative workflow you may format the paragraph area, and set the TS
border to zero. Then all visible formatting comes from the text and is pasted
into new cells.
