Bug ID: 174001
Summary: Alt & Shift while creating polygons misbehave
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 27.2.0.0 alpha0+ master
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/simpress/02/10080000.html says
about Curves and Polygons:
"If you hold the Shift key down, the movement of the mouse is limited to
multiples of 45 degrees. If you hold down the Alt key, the new point will not
be connected to the last point."
Alt does not seem to work this way, and after using it once "Shift" misbehaves.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1. Open an empty spreadsheet
2. View->Toolbars->Drawing Object Properties
3. Insert->Shape->Line->Polygon
4. Set 'Line Thickness' in obj prop toolbar to 0.04" (makes lines easy to see)
Note: Cell coordinates below refer to the lower-left-corner of that cell:
5. Click at B10
Drag upward to B7 and click again (points are connected)
Move mouse to D3 and Alt-click (should create disconnected point?)
RESULTS: This does not work, the new point is not disconnected. As I read the
docs, Alt should be pressed when placing the disconnected point. The docs
should be corrected or clarified.
Experimentally, Alt must be pressed on the last point in the previous connected
group; then the next point will be disconnected. But doing this completely
wrecks the behavior of "Shift" to constrain line segments to multiples of 45
degrees:
6. Click at F10
Drag upward to F7 and then Alt-Click
Move mouse to F3 and click again
This makes F3 disconnected from F7. However thereafter "Shift" misbehaves --
it becomes impossible to constrain line segments to be horizontal
7. Try to place a point at H3 while holding "Shift"
RESULTS: Impossible - the cursor jumps to prevent being anywhere on that
horizontal while Shift is pressed.
