Oh I agree absolutely, its just that I can't reproduce any noticeable slow down on my 7 year old single core AMD64 / 768Mb RAM with the build from master (which is equal to current 3.5.1 RC2). On this machine, LO is slow, so anything that makes it noticeably slower hits me in the face straightaway and I just don't see that with the file you posted.
