However, at least on Ubuntu 12.04.5 that I'm now on, complete removal and complete re-installation give me the exact same problems. Nothing is marked as whether the document is tracking changes or showing changes and when it is on 'do not show changes' that lasts only until the next save - and then all changes are show.
